Since 2015, he has worked at Silesian University in Opava, where he teaches, holds the position of Vice-Dean for strategies and development, and takes care of the WHOO observatory! and the Unisphere digital spherical projection. He has been actively involved in the Czech Astronomical Society for a long time.
Tomáš studied physics at Masaryk University in Brno and received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics and astrophysics. From 1988 to 2015, he worked at the Ostrava Planetarium (VŠB – Technical University), for 22 years as the head of this institution. He likes Kurt Vonnegut, Jan Werich, Joan Miró, functionalism, the Beatles, broccoli and the internet. He doesn't like socialist realism, brass bands, dill and written exams.
