Tereza Krchňáková (CZE)

Clinical psychologist

 

Tereza studied psychology at Charles University in Prague. She spent her university years working at a safe help line, where she gained her first experience in sharing children's worries as a crisis interventionist. After returning to her native Ostrava, she stayed with working with children and adolescents.

 

 

In addition to her practice in the outpatient clinic of clinical psychology, where she participated in leading children's neurocognitive rehabilitation groups for several years, she spends most of her working time at the University Hospital Ostrava. At the Department of Paediatric Medicine, she focuses on the care of chronically ill patients, with a particular interest in Type I Diabetes, its impact on development and quality of life. In the context of the increasing number of eating disorders in recent years, Tereza and her colleagues have been trying to find ways to provide care for these patients in the paediatric department. Therapeutically, she works particularly with adolescents with anorexia nervosa and their families.
She is a member of the newly formed Children's Supportive and Palliative Care team and is learning how to support children in their most difficult moments. She enjoys working with hope and looking for what works and thrives.
