Jan Press (CZE)

Director of the Moravian Gallery

He studied Art history and Museology at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, then the Faculty of Construction at the Technical University in Brno. He worked at the Moravian Gallery as a project manager, then as head of the collections department.

Since 1 April 2013, he has been the director of the Moravian Gallery and is responsible for its significant transformation. He has made the permanent exhibitions free of charge and opened the courtyards of the Vice-Governor's Palace and the Pražák Palace to the public. Thanks to him, Brno became known as the city of contemporary Czech design, which is presented in the permanent exhibition Art Design Fashion in the newly reconstructed Museum of Decorative Arts.
