Musician and producer

David aka sunnbrella is a Czech-Slovak musician and producer based in London, son of singer and musician Miro “Meky” Zbirka and Katerina Zbirkova. He graduated from Middlesex University where he studied film and television production in London, where he also lives. He is currently preparing to tour the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and the UK with his music project.

The style of the sunnbrella project has previously been described as "sun-drenched shoegaze" and "chronically online pop" and his latest pieces lean on the latter. He has so far received acclaim from The Line Of Best Fit, PASTE, BBC London, Toronto Star, Headliner, Full Moon Magazine and more, with the first vinyl edition of his debut album Heartworn (2023) selling out. Following the success of this album, co-produced by Patrick James Fitzroy (PVA, Sorry), sunnbrella toured in the UK and Europe, and played in support of New York indie legends Beach Fossils on their UK and Ireland tour.
