Can we spy on the future?

Current research in physics and psychology show us that time is nonlinear and that our perception of the future as non-existent in the present is at least partially an illusion. If the common idea that the future is unknowable is false, shouldn't we be able to spy on the future and make better choices today? Is there any indication this would work out well for us, or work at all? If so, how could we adjust our culture to support a careful and beneficial navigation of our future paths based on the intelligence we gain from this previously under-explored realm?
