Czech delegate of the International Dark Sky Association, first Czech Photo Ambassador of the European Southern Observatory, author of several photographic books. His images have been selected several times as the prestigious ESO Astronomy Picture of the Week, NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day and Czech Astrophotography of the Month.
For his worldwide achievements in the field of astrophotography, the planet 6822 Horálek was named after him. At Silesian University in Opava, he works at the Physics Institute in the field of science popularization.
