Marek is a young researcher from the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering at CTU who has dedicated his career to designing detectors that search for dark matter and studying the strong interactions that hold atomic nuclei together.
Although his main interest lies in solving theoretical models and studying the fundamental properties of physical theories, he was briefly involved in planning the construction of a new accelerator at CERN to serve as a 100 km successor to the current LHC.
Dark matter is a mysterious substance that makes up most of our universe. It even passes through our planet every moment, yet we know very little about it. What is it? Do we know for sure that it exists? How are we trying to learn more about it, and are we close to capturing it? These are the questions Marek will address in his talk on one of the biggest mysteries in physics today.
