Jan Macek (CZE)

Professor, mechanical engineer

 

Jan Macek is a specialist in vehicle propulsion and thermodynamic engineer. He deals with energy and environmental aspects of transport and cogeneration distributed energy through simulations and experiments on vehicle powertrains.

 

 

He works at the Centre for Sustainable Mobility Vehicles of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague, where he was Head of the Department of Automotive, Internal Combustion Engines and Rolling Stock between 1991 and 2015, Dean between 1997 and 2000, Vice Dean for Science and Research between 2006 and 2018. He has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering since 1982 and for three years headed the Josef Bozek National Centre of Competence for Surface Transport Vehicles which he is now chairman of the board of.

Between 1990—1991 he was a lecturer at Sinclair CC, Dayton, Ohio. He received his professorship in 1993 and a year later, he was a visiting young professor at ETH Zurich.

Jan is the author of hundreds of papers published in national and international media. He holds twenty patents to this day. At the International Engineering Fair 2022 in Brno, he received the Gold Medal for creative technical work and achievements in innovation.
