Jan is an assistant professor at the Department of English and American Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava. He specializes in Anglo-American and African-American history, literature and culture.
He is a graduate of Texas A&M University in the USA and Masaryk University in Brno, and is also a member of the Czech and Slovak Association of American Studies. He regularly comments and writes about the American political scene for the Czech and Slovak media.
