Vice-Rector at VSB-TUO

Igor is currently in his sixth year as Vice-Rector for Strategy and Cooperation at VSB-TUO. He played a pivotal role in developing the SMARAGD strategy (SMARt And Green District) and is now leading the largest project in VSB-TUO’s history, as well as the largest project in the Czech Republic under the Operational Programme Fair Transformation, named REFRESH. With a budget exceeding CZK 2.6 billion, REFRESH aims to establish a new innovation ecosystem in the region, focusing on selected areas to aid in the region’s transformation significantly.

Additionally, Igor is leading the U!REKA SHIFT project, positioning VSB-TUO in the top 10% of the so-called European universities within the European Union. In his role, he has led the team that prepared the Strategic Plan of VSB-TUO and actively contributed to several working groups for the new Strategic Plan of the City of Ostrava. He oversees the Career Centre, the Project Support Centre, the Technology Transfer Centre, and the Business Centre. His entire professional career has been devoted to geoinformatics, and since 2010, he has been part of the Department of Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Mining and Geology at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
