Martin Roman (CZE)

Expert on education and philanthropist

 

 

After finishing his managerial career, he is engaged in philanthropy, especially in the field of education. He studied Effective Learning and Teaching at UCL London, is the chairman of the board of PORG schools and the founder and donator of the readinghelps.com (ctenipomaha.cz) project.

 

 

Martin Roman started his professional career as the sales director of the Czech branch of Wolf Bergstrasse. In 1994, he became the CEO of Janka Radotín. Between 2000 and 2004, he restructured a traditional Czech engineering company and became chairman of the board and CEO of the new SKODA HOLDING. From February 2004 to mid-September 2011, Martin was the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of CEZ, and from mid-September 2011 to the end of October 2013, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CEZ. He is a member of the board of directors of MOL. He was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Prague Stock Exchange, of Czech Railways and in the years 2007 to 2011 was a vice-president of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Vienna Insurance Group.
