Lenka is known primarily as a war reporter and photographer, focusing on the war with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Since last February she has been reporting from both the front lines and the rear in Ukraine.
She started as a correspondent, was the editor-in-chief of the Lidé a Země (in English People and Country) magazine between 2004 and 2018, and has been freelancing since 2019. She has worked in a number of African countries and has visited Afghanistan several times as a reporter. She is the co-author of several documentaries, several TV reports, and nine books mostly about war conflicts in Africa, Iraq, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Lenka collaborates with many Czech media outlets, is the editor-in-chief of Prima ZOOM magazine, works with the CEVRO Institute, and lectures at the University of Hradec Králové. She has won several Czech Press Photo awards and nominations - both for photography and video production. She has also achieved international success, being included in the prestigious Women Photograph database in 2020, which includes the best female photographers from all over the world and winning the international photography competition Solo Exhibition November 2021 with her series Lost War about the course and consequences of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. In addition, she has been a finalist in many prestigious photography competitions around the world.
Her book of reports from Ukraine, Zero Line, will be published in the summer of 2023.
