Ivan Foletti (CZE/CHE)
Art historian
Ivan is a professor at the Art History Seminar of the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno, where he heads the Centre for Early Medieval Studies and the Hans Belting Library.
He specializes in the study of the historiography of the art of Byzantium, the Christian monuments of the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, and the issue of Russian emigration and imperialism. He studied or worked at universities in Lausanne, Rome, Moscow, New York, Fribourg, Helsinki, Naples, Padua, Poitiers, Bern, and Venice. He is the author of a number of exciting books and studies, many of them for the general public.
